I have my own theory about Republican politicians. Most professional Republican politicians are second-teamers, because Conservatives gravitate towards real jobs like in business, engineering, or the military. Thus, professional Republicans are generally wimpy, effeminate, and/or don't really believe in Conservativism but have to pretend to be conservative so they can get re-elected (like Trent Lott and Larry Craig).
It's no coincidence the best Republicans have earned their bones in something other than politics (Ronaldus Magnus, Jesse Helms, Sarah Palin), and look at public service as a second career or a calling.
