Free Republic DC Convention Update - Please Read!!! Important Info
Can’t make it to the convention, but our local Tea Party group is talking about getting a bus (or two or three?) to go down to DC the day of the DC Tea Party.
Keep watching the Tea Party Express and Freeper Convention threads so we can all be together at the rally.
Yea, herding cats but we may pull it off!
LOL
Here is one of the announcement threads here and here is the logo;
I and others associated with this event have not mentioned it nor made a big a deal out of it, I only asked you because you and Jim were part of it. But it is kind of a slap in the face to the good people who put so much time, effort and money (it was supported completely w/o Jim and FR funds) into the "first" FR National Conference when they see it go down the memory hole...like it never existed.
BTW - Our Keynote speaker was Laura Ingraham. That was a a great night for all FReepers...for those who remember it.
Wow! Didn’t know that you guys would be hitting little ‘ol Elko NV. Will see you when you get here!
Cool beans, it’ll be great to see you there!
Bring as many people as you can.
No I didn't, and you know that is not true.
Here is the reply to your comment to me apparently accusing me of piling on to destroy the FRN (If I remember my Shakespearean correctly):
Well the FRN did put on a conference in 2002 that I attended. How you see that as arguing that Friva Las Vegas was not a "FR national conference" doesn't wash.
I also made this comment to clarify why I call the upcoming event "The First Annual National Free Republic Convention"
I never saw it [FRiva Las Vegas] described as the First Annual Convention (or Conference for that matter)Anyone that wants to click on the link I provided above can see that I never dissed the FRN or misstated anything as you suggest.
I and others associated with this event have not mentioned it nor made a big a deal out of it
Well, you seem to be doing that now.
And BTW, I still have friendships with several people that were part of the FRN.
I only asked you because you and Jim were part of it. But it is kind of a slap in the face to the good people who put so much time, effort and money (it was supported completely w/o Jim and FR funds) into the "first" FR National Conference when they see it go down the memory hole...like it never existed.
First, a lot of people put a lot of time and effort into the Las Vegas conference who were not members of the FRN
Jim supported it and so did Free Republic big time.
It looks like the slap in the face is not coming from me, and is not directed at the FRN event in 2002.
And I did not ever say that your event was not the " 'first' FR National Conference."
You know, I spend a great deal of time searching threads of the FRiva Las Vegas Free Republic National Conference and looked at many.
If anyone put it down the memory hole, it is the practice of the FRN to discontinue hosting pictures of events.
Those threads (the picture ones especially) were mostly full of red "x"s instead of pictures when they were hosted by FRN.
Pictures tell quite a story of events as you know.
In fact, almost the only pictures on the threads I could find were ones I posted. They are still there.
Let me know when you re-host the pictures on those threads I would like to see them. As would a lot of FR people I would imagine.
Or are they down the memory hole forever?
Look, there was a great event back in the nineties called the "March For Justice."
How many people post about that these days, and how many "remember" it?
For that matter, how many people remember (or even know about) the Post Inaugural Victory Brunch which was covered by CSPAN in early 2001?
I'm not all verklempt about that.
BTW - Our Keynote speaker was Laura Ingraham. That was a a great night for all FReepers...for those who remember it.
I'm sure a lot of people remember it, I do. And it was a good event.
Plus I got my picture taken with Laura. (She insisted : > )
It's clear you are against any National events, that's fine.
There are others that still see the value in them.
Cool. Thanks!
Call it what you want, there isn’t much difference between conference or convention. You say you didn’t remember it being called either, I’m not sure what you thought it was since there were meetings, workshops, speakers and an awards ceremony. You even said you researched it, don’t know how you could miss that logo.
I didn’t say you dissed, were piling on or out to destroy anything. I said it was a slap in the face to ignore and/or forget about the hard work of previous committed FReepers...that can be done accidentally and without malice. However, when I pointed out to you that there in fact was a “first” National FR conference/convention in ‘02, you continued to market this one as the first of it’s kind. When presented with the facts there was no attempt at correction.
I was also one of the few organizers of the “March for Justice” in ‘98. If today someone were to call for “The First Annual March for Justice” I would probably correct them as well. But it’s your event, call it what you will. Just be aware that when you ignore that kind of history, one that you ANF Jim were present at and many people worked very hard to make a reality, it is going to taken as a slap in the face.
I’m done and will drop it.
Ancient history, who cares.
Sorry you are so upset about this.
This is the link that I thought I linked in post 5 just for clarification.
A National Free Republic event
That is what I referred to your event as originally.
Looking at it again, you’re right. The ‘02 event was a “conference” and this is a “convention”, so it is the first of it’s kind in FR history.
Good luck and Godspeed.
And Thanks for all your work on those and the other FRN events across the years.
I did indeed enjoy working with you and the others on several of the events in 2001.
Sorry to be a pest...I am a newbie and don’t see how to post pics on the threads. Can someone point me in the right direction? I don’t know html, and this site looks quite primative...
I use photobucket:
www.photobucket.com
Set up an account there (it’s free), and save your photos that you want to post. Then copy and paste the html code.
saving—thank you—we are looking forward to posting
Every time I go to 912dc.org, my computer locks up. Anybody else having this problem?
It gave me the option to turn off the script, so I did
Then in about two minutes, it came up with another warning:
jcarousel: no widtht/height set for items. This will cause an infinite loop. Aborting...
I clicked OK on that one and it loaded up
What a hassle. Usually I just don't got to websites such as that, and those that automatically do popups.
I just close them
It's too bad they don't make the website more user friendly
