The VA Benefits and the Healthcare plan for the country
Wounded Warrior Handbook ^ | 1.30.2008 | Wounded Warrior

Maybe a few folks going to the TEA Party forums with their congress people will take a few pages from this book and ask their congressman/woman or senator how long is the wait to get enrolled in the VA health care program? Why would enrollment in the Public Option be faster? Will there be the same categories for those who get service "based upon funding?"

This handbook is especially interesting on pages 6 and 7, of the pdf, where it explains who gets served first and then how long you can expect to wait for service. What stands out is that service can be denied or delayed based upon funding. I have a friend who has been on the VA waiting list for over 3 months.

wait for service....and “means testing” to deny service to those who are above some shifting income limit

some public health consumers will be more equal than others

Attn all military retirees:http://www.cbo.gov/doc.cfm?index=9925......Click on PDF, use the binoculars and find TFL. They are proposing to eliminate Tricare For Life.

Yeah, the VA [/s]. When I was retiring from the military, we had some VA rep give us a 4 hour brief on all the great VA benefits we were going to get (especially healthcare). However, it turns out, that unless you are anything other than mostly disabled or destitute, you get squat. Now, I am in good condition (both healthwise and financially) and have other health insurance. So, if resources are scarce, I’d rather have them go to veterans who really need them.

However, I do see a parallel between my VA experience and Obamacare. That is: people will be promised the Moon and those who are anything other than poor will find out that they don’t qualify for the advertised program. That is, anyone who can pay WILL pay thru the nose for those who can’t.

http://www.cbo.gov/ftpdocs/99xx/doc9925/12-18-HealthOptions.pdf....Try this. I got the info in an e-mail. It basically says the CBO is proposing you pay the first $500 of costs and 50% of remaining costs for the first year of treatment. It gets worse after that. Article 189 contains most of the bad news. It is only a CBO proposal right now, but now is the time to stop it.

http://themoderatevoice.com/25915/another-innuendo-over-a-cbo-report/...Here is another point of view. Now I don’t know what to believe, but I’m still going to let my congresscritters hear from me about ANY cits in TriCare.

Perhaps our elected representatives would have a different view of health care, if they (and their staffs) were required to enroll and then only use the local VA Hospitals, (or TRICARE/MEDICARE)...without any special considerations.

No head of the line privileges.

Sorry, we don’t accept TRICARE as payment.

I have yet to hear any elected representatives/supporter of OBAMACARE even mention their first hand knowledge with the VA or TRICARE, and of course their flunkies in the MSM are smart enough to ask the questions.

There is a difference between health care and health insurance. From what I understand, the VA has it’s own health care provider system. This is different from offering insurance to vets that they can use at any public health care provider. From what I understand, a lot of people who qualify for this benefit don’t use it.

Wow..."If appropriations are limited, enrollment will occur based on the following priorities:"

Get used to that!

Also, don't forget your VIC (Veteran's Identification Card) - "Vere ahr yoor papers?? Yoor papers ahr NOT in ORDER!!"

When I enlisted back in ‘77, I was promised NO COST health care for the rest of my life!!! That was THE main incentive the recruiter claimed I would recieve. I have it it in writing in my enlistment agreement papers!! It means SQUAT!!!! These lib-tards need to spend ONE day at the VA.
I make $30,000 BELOW poverty level and I STILL have to pay co-pays.I could get my prescriptions cheaper,(half the price) at wal-mart! A year and a half ago the VA MISDIAGNOSED me with hepatitis-c. It cost me my marriage and ruined my life in the small town I live in,I can’t do SQUAT about it! I never even got an apology and they wouldn’t clear my name with the health dept. or CDC. So yeah, I WISH obama-care on these FOOLS who think it’s a good deal.

Wow—that sounds pretty bad.

Anyone who has ever been to a VA medical facility knows they are miserable and depressing places. Yeah, most hospitals are, but the VA facilities are especially so. You can tell they are substandard and the healthcare choice of last resort. So, I’m not too broken up about not being eligible for the VA, ‘cause I probably wouldn’t use it anyway. Buts its a preview of what we will ALL face under Goverment run healthcare.

I sincerely hope your situation improves!

VA hospital quality varies according to location. In Arizona, the best VA hospitals are in Phoenix (where John McCain’s main office is) and Tucson (ditto Senator Kyl). On Northern Arizona, where I was, the only VA hospital was in an abandoned cavalry fort north of Prescott. Half the clinics were mothballed, you had to go to Phoenix to get anything more complicated than an X-ray.

Given the blatantly political way that Federal funds are being spent now, what do you think is going to happen under Obamacare?
