In their first unified voice on the subject, Texas Medical Center leaders Monday sent a message to Congress as it tries to reform America's troubled health care system: slow down.
Appearing at a news conference sponsored by U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison, R-Texas, many of the medical center's biggest names said the issue is too important to rush through legislation that could have unforeseen harmful consequences.
This is a monumental piece of legislation that is going to impact people for many years, both the 300 million people who have insurance and the 47 million who don't, said Dan Wolterman, CEO of the Memorial Hermann Health Care System. The priority should be, let's get it right, not let's get it done fast.

The list, ping
That’s just the point.....
This isn’t healthcare “reform,” this is a complete takeover of the healthcare system by the federal government.
The politicians couldn’t care less about the health of the American people; their desire to take over healthcare is motivated by four reasons.....(1) Power (2) Money (3) Control and (4) their desire to make everyone MORE dependent on government.
Boy, the left has certainly succeeded in burning that 47 million number into everyone’s conversation.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading and thinking on the subject of so-called healthcare reform. I think I’m coming to the conclusion that if this bill passes, I will be able to make health decisions for my cat that I would be BARRED from making for my family! Think about that one, folks.
Good for her. Still don’t like her.
Where is Perry on this?
Why isn’t he doing something like this also
besides talking about invoking 10th Amendment.
I learned a lot from the Heritage Foundation.

I have a question that should be easy to answer by the expert authors of the proposed public health care bill being debated in congress right now. The question is based on the assumption that a current version of the public health care plan being advertised by the President and pushed through Congress by Madame Speaker Pelosi becomes law.
What would be the difference in treatment and benefits in the case of Senator Edward Kennedys medical condition under the following 2 scenarios?
1. Senators and Congressional Representatives are covered by the same new public health care plan as everyone else.
2. Senators and Congressional Representatives are covered by their current plan which does not change when the new public health care plan is enacted.
How would these 2 plans differ for a 77 year old man, with a brain tumor depending on their membership in Congress or not belonging?
Maybe the folks at the Texas Medical Center can answer this one for all of us.
