I called the high school. Ended up talking to the Communications Director. He said the coach was not fired, only his contract was not renewed. They could not say anything else as there is a law suit filed. I pulled up the high school website...it has Arabic written all over it, if you look at their newsletter. I ask why they couldnt read and speak English...he said the same reason that many schools post in English and Spanish. Many students cannot speak English. He said they were citizens of the United States...I ask how they could be because you have to speak English to become an American. He had no answer....

When you called, did you have to press two for English?

(If you can't be a good example, at least don't be a horrible lesson)

"I called the high school. Ended up talking to the Communications Director. He said the coach was not fired, only his contract was not renewed. " Most teachers work on one-year contracts. It's a way of getting around tenure (and an idea which I basically support). But not getting renewed is essentially the same as getting fired, unless they are reducing enrollment or dropping whatever subject the teacher is teaching.
In Illinois, my wife (a teacher) filed a protest against the District for inviting the GLSN people in for seminars and authorizing gay clubs, sending a politely worded argument against the move to each of the school board members. Other teachers told her she would lose her job. No one responded to any of the letters. Five weeks later she got her notice that "due to reorganization" she was not being rehired for the next year, despite excellent reviews.
She since moved on to a different (and actually much better) district.
