Can you survive several years of no money to spend? And perhaps little to buy in the way of food?
Most people cannot so the time frame you mention may not be viable for most of us if things crash.
In my opinion we have already crashed but like someone in a car crash going into shock and not feeling pain right away, we have not felt the result yet of the blow we have been dealt and still think along conventional not catastrophic lines. We have crashed and are about to burn.
We are already coughing from the smoke but the flames have yet to reach us and hurt.

My objection was to the quality of the article -the poorly reasoned, muddled articulation of the idea. I don’t deny there’ll be tough times ahead - of course there will be. I just don’t put much stock in hyperbole.
