Lawrenceville is a suburb of Atlanta now, but in those days it was most definitely not. . . . Atlanta was just a little tiny town, and Lawrenceville was a county seat and very independent (it still is a county seat!)

In those days, I went to sleep away summer camp in Roswell, which is much closer to Atlanta than L'ville but quite a long trip in those days. There was a two-lane highway from Atlanta to Roswell, and you crossed the Chattahoochee on an old single-lane green iron truss bridge. Getting to Lawrenceville was even more complicated!
