I have alot more respect for Lance than Alberto who has shown he doesn’t care for being a (TEAM) member. I’m glad Lance will have his own team next year & I hope he leaves Alberto in his wake.
You could see what happened here. Lance did not want to be 2nd or 3rd but Contador was in the lead. A good teammate would have just let Contador win but I am sure Lance with his very big ego and knowing no one covers the 2nd or 3rd place finisher had a tough time letting Contador take the glory.
This is a “team” sport but it is covered by the world from an individual perspective. Contador and Armstrong could make a lot of money with this new rivalry. Just like a heavyweight boxing bout.
No matter what was said behind closed doors, when they were riding Lance was a team player and Alberto was not.
Lance is a great champion, but it is clear to me after watching this year’s Tour that he’ll never be able to beat Contador. The Lance of 5 years ago certainly would be the heavy favorite, but next year he will be even closer to 40 and this sport is way too grueling for that age. Contador is not tactically very bright, but his physical abilities at this point in time are just way beyond what an aging Armstrong will be able to contend with. Only Andy Schleck should be considered a Contador threat next year.
