The long-awaited 911 tape and audio of the controversial July 16 arrest of Harvard professor Henry Louis Gates Jr. are being made public for the first time today, Cambridge officals just announced.
The tapes will speak for themselves, said Cambridge Police Commissioner Robert Haas.
Hass said the tapes will create some confusion, but only with police codes youll hear but the remainder of the tapes are crystal clear.
Its in plain language in most part and you can draw your own conclusions, Haas.
In the 911 tapes, Lucia Whalen can be heard spelling out the name of the street and saying that another woman approached her about seeing two men trying to enter the Ware Street home.

I was being flip because he has been taped using the “n” word on several occasions. In one, he referred to himself as one.
Not that’s there’s anything wrong with that. :)
Thank you. That one works for me. It allowed me to download the mp3 files of both the 911 call and the radio transmission. Thank you so much!

OK I can’t tell you how much it angers me that someone could write that on their application to Yale and be accepted, rather than being referred maybe for mental help. Oy.
The end of the call says it when she said "I guess I'll stick around"
Looks like she came across the 'incident' at the last moment, she said she wouldn't even have noticed except the neighbor there was concerned and spoke to her - that's why she looked over to the house and called 911 to relay what the woman and she saw.
Why didn't the 911 operator ask to speak with the other woman who apparently saw the whole incident?
Wonder what the 911 operators next review will look like?
Thanks.
Hopefully the Republican party has learned from their mistakes during the Clinton years. Their efforts to ‘get’ Clinton saved him. Elected Republicans should speak out and criticize 0bama frequently, be all over him like white on rice, but they shouldn’t try to impeach him or pursue birther conspiracy theories. It’s fine for us to question his legitimacy, and is useful to do so for undermining public confidence in him, but it would be a very bad idea for Republicans in congress to go there.
0bama’s ambitious ‘Change’ agenda has quickly become associated with “CHANGE FOR THE WORSE” in the minds of most Americans. The GOP should start labeling it as such until ‘CHANGE’ carries more negative baggage than “Mission Accomplished.” Tie the House Democrats to the ‘CHANGE’ agenda and the House will be back in GOP hands after the 2010 election. Hopefully with Mike Pence as Speaker.
Finally, the Republican Party needs to nominate a presidential candidate who is not even less popular than the unpopular 0bama. Make sure we nominate someone who can WIN. This time around, we will need to nominate someone willing and able to hold 0bama accountable face to face in debate, and lay out a new way forward, with real solutions that make sense to Americans.
TAGGED!
The Dispatcher is Racist!
When seconds count the police are only minutes away.
DISPATCH: Are they Hispanic? Are they still in the house?
TAGGED!
The Dispatcher is Racist!
I was thinking the same thing.
DISPATCH: Are they Hispanic? Are they still in the house?
************************
I take back my previous post - one re-listening to the tape the dispatcher asked “White, Black or Hispanic?” twice. Not what is written above
The dispatcher said it real fast the first time - it’s garbled but he didn’t just say Hispanic.
