" A Canadian astronaut aboard the International Space Station said on Sunday it looks like Earth's ice caps have melted a bit since he was last in orbit 12 years ago.
Bob Thirsk, who is two months into a planned six-month stay aboard the station, said he is mostly in awe when he looks out the window, particularly at the sliver of atmosphere wrapped around the planet.
"It's a very thin veil of atmosphere around the Earth that keeps us alive," Thirsk said during an in-flight news conference. "Most of the time when I look out the window I'm in awe. But there are some effects of the human destruction of the Earth as well."
"This is probably just a perception, but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting, the snow capping the mountains is less than it was 12 years ago when I saw it last time," Thrisk said. "That saddens me a little bit."

“Feelings, nothing more than feelings...”
But, gosh, it made the news so it must be science now.
The Question is was he up during the Winter 12 years ago ? Is he in a higher orbit ? Does he know North from south ?
Summer time Ice does melt, ya know ?
Was his last trip during the peak of Arctic summer?
Ice is melting, The Earth is getting warmer, but it has NOTHING to do with human activity.
Mars is also heating up and there are no humans up there.
Global warming is caused by the solar activity. Belief that we can cool it down is less substantiated than believe that raindance can cause rain.
I am angered how even here on FR people do not discern that Global warming is a fact, MAN-MADE cause for it is a hoax.
Did you happen to notice that giant hole in the clouds too?
bttt
Interesting.
Now that you mention it, I've always had the "feeling" that the sun is extinguished every night by pixies using a giant candle snuffer (which is why it gets dark); and that evry morning it is re-ignited, using magma from the earth's core, by magic fairies (which explains why it gets light).
Maybe I should apply for a job on the space station?
PS - I know, I know, if my "feelings" are correct then the earth's mass would be depleted over time by the loss of magma. Fortunately, I have that little problem covered: I ALSO have always "felt" that the earth aborbs space dust at the same rate that it loses the magma used for re-igniting the sun.
I’ve noticed that the comparative artic ice data is mysteriously unavailable this year... when at the beginning of the year, it looked like the ice extent was going to be much larger than anticipated.
Now they claim something is “broken.”

Funny how data disappears when it doesn’t support your point.
If you believe it, you will see it.
See post 30.
He drank the Kool-Aid.
“Look at that smokestack billowing pollution”
“Uhhh...sir that’s a volcano”
“And look at the huge mining scar”
“Uhh sir, that’s a earthquake fault line”
His eyesight is failing.
The space guys always toe the line on things like this. Their entire career is based on gvt funding.
Why are we up there again?
It needed mowing.
“...but I just have the feeling that the glaciers are melting...”
I FEEEEEEEEL it, therefore it MUST be the fact!
