I have a theory on Presidential elections since the TV age...except for 1972, the better-looking man has won the Presidency. Sunny Eisenhower against the dour Stevenson, young Kennedy against 5-o'clock-shadow Nixon, Johnson/Goldwater and Nixon/Humphrey a wash, idealist Carter against RINO Ford, Reagan simply looking better than anybody, Dems nominating the only ugly passionless Greek in America against GHW Bush, handsome babyboomer Clinton against old fogeys Bush and Dole, George W. Bush against Algore and Lurch Kerry, and so on...

The Dem party handlers realized that you couldn't win a Presidential election with an ugly candidate. So, they pluck an obscure community organizer out of Chicago, put him on a script ("HOPEYCHANGEY!!!"), and he outprettied John McCain.

What B. Hussein is doing now (Socialized Medicine, surrender of American sovereignty, the elimination of take-home pay, etc.) is no different than what Clinton, algore, or Lurch would've done if they had the chance. Now the Dems have got a pretty boy to push their message...and a half-Black man to boot for guilty white liberals.

Whereas I agree with you that much of what Obama is pushing is straight from the democrat playbook, I do believe that he is Machiavellian well beyond the normal socialistic demeanor of the democrats. He is a dangerous ideologue, and his past is so obscure that one cannot help wondering how long he has had an agenda, and who has been backing him.

It's not just good looks, though your analysis is correct. It's telegenicity, as well. The GOP nominated the wrong candidate in 2008. McCain had many admirable qualities and a beautiful wife, but he was old and couldn't string 3 coherent sentences together. Horrible campaigner, horrible candidate.

I have repeatedly stated that Romney was the much better GOP candidate last year. He might not have defeated BO, but we'd have had more Republicans elected in both the House and Senate -- not nearly the drag at the top of the ticket created by McCain. Thank you again, Mike Huckabee. Like Reagan in 1976, Romney could have run against Washington DC and would have been distanced 100% from the bailouts... Romney would have laid the disaster right at the door of the congressional Dems and distanced himself from Bush.
