I knew someone who qualified for the Hawaiian Home Lands. IIRC she was 50% Hawaiian. My understanding is that her children did not qualify. After waiting many years she became ill before being able to take advantage of the program. If she had been able to participate I believe this would only have given her the right to lease land during her lifetime.
Thanks much...very interesting. I think many Indian tribes are less strict about allowing you tribal status even with one eight or sixteenth Indian ancestry. Even the tribes with casinos.
