I am not a linguist by any means but according to grade school grammar rules I would think that the sentence says that not only does Maya have three parents but the third parent is Barack Obama who is half-sister to the 44th president of the United States.
My seventh grade teacher is no longer living so I cannot consult her.
Now and then I do a big rant about the deterioration of language skills in this country, some of you who have a classical education should help me out with this.
