Question that has been bothering me..since when do they put as the fathers race-African. anyone?

Very good, I thought I was the only one who noticed that.
The record should say 'Negro',African is like saying 'North American' but 'Mother' was a 'Caucasian'.

Question that has been bothering me..since when do they put as the fathers race-African. anyone? I've thought about that. If I had to bet, I'd guess that this was part of a politically correct scrubbing of old records. If we somehow got the original certificate issued at the time (I take no position on it's existence), it would probably say "negro" or some such politically incorrect term. When things were digitized, some busybody decided to replace historically correct information with PC replacements. Just a theory.

The call it african since African-American became in vogue, about 20 years after he was born.

Not in the sixties, that’s for sure. Remember this is before the Civil Rights Act after which blacks decided they wanted to be called ‘black’ because of the aura of militancy it provoked. Most likely a BC of that era would say ‘negro’, which is one of the three great races of man, just as ‘caucasian’ is, which is how the mother is described.
