What other answer would you expect from someone who sat in Rev. Wright’s church for 20 years?

Haha. So true. We tried to tell them he was a lying sack of you-know-what when he sat in that pew for 20 years and then had the nerve to say:

"You know, I have been a member of Trinity United Church of Christ since 1992. I have known Reverend Wright for almost 20 years. The person I saw yesterday was not the person that I met 20 years ago. His comments were not only divisive and destructive, but I believe that they end up giving comfort to those who prey on hate and I believe that they do not portray accurately the perspective of the black church."

They certainly don't portray accurately my values and beliefs. And if Reverend Wright thinks that that's political posturing, as he put it, then he doesn't know me very well. And based on his remarks yesterday, well, I may not know him as well as I thought, either.

What we need to ask is, “Why the red herring?” Look at the news. Instead of debating the various aspects of the health care bill, all the talking heads are discussing the Gates issue. My guess is that the White House intent was to use this break to lift the pressure off the Blue Dogs and push through the bill just before recess (as originally planned).

Ah- ha!........ I knew it was scripted! I said as much when it first happened.

"Obama the HEALER", was supposed to be the headline, but things haven't worked out as they had imagined.

Gibbs just confirming what some of us have been saying since the get go...that it was scripted.
The obvious response is that it is a smokescreen for his his healthcare issue.
One of the things that is really troubling is that even his answers on the health care were bumbling and careless and inflammatory.
Why did they hold a presser and script such questions and then respond with such ineptitude?
He was disrespectful of both doctors and policemen during the presser. I have had several attorneys since the presser tell me that an attorney would never say “I don't have all the facts, but.....” It is one of the first things they learn as lawyer. It then highlights the O’s weak law skills. (I had a lawyer who worked with him in Chicago say that he spent every day at his desk working on his book rather than doing any of the work he was assigned by his firm) Anyway, I digress.
Why did they do this presser at all? Why did they feel it necessary to add the Gates matter? Even if Obama did go off script, why would they have him address such a trivial matter as President? It was demeaning to both himself and the “importance” of the health care and certainly to the office he holds.

Ranting and raving at a bunch of cops, who are responding to a nighttime break in, with visibility poor like that, is pretty dangerous.

It happened around noon. Visibility shouldn't have been an issue.

Well, hard to be certain, but it sure does look like a setup.

And why would Obama want to sabotage himself with a setup like that?

Because he’s so arrogant he thought he could get away with it. It’s his typical Alinsky ploy. Choose someone and demonize him in order to get people on your side. After all, the race baiters have done this a thousand times, accusing cops of being racisim, and it’s always worked before. Why would anyone believe this cop, any more than they’d believe the executives at AIG or GM?

But this time it backfired. They picked the wrong cop, they didn’t realize that there was a black cop among the responders, they didn’t know that the sergeant was chosen to lecture young cops on how to steer clear of racism, they didn’t realize that Gates would fly so far off the handle and get caught on tape and camera.

Hillary got elected to the Senate by attacking NYC cops for shooting a black man; that (and woman trouble) was the primary issue she used to force Giuliani out of the race. Hundreds of Democrat politicians have used that ploy to make themselves popular.

I’d love to see the teleprompter script. Did Barry screw up and get in over his head, or did he read what was on the teleprompter? Maybe he needs to fire a few speachwriters over this one.

The problem Obama can’t get around is he assumed Gates’ story was as accurate as a Rev. Wright sermon...

It happened around noon.

Do you have a reference for that? Honestly, I've searched the web, and all I get is "that night", "that evening", "at night" and things like that.

Google "Gates Crowley police report".

The Smoking Gun has the report posted. Time of incident is reported as "12:44 PM".

Hmmm...thanks, I see that now. I wonder if all are aware of that, since I had such a hard time finding it.

Middle of the day.

Read the question off a piece of paper?

Well, real journalists have been known to write down questions in advance to ensure that they can ask it intelligently in front of a camera.

The DNC has also been known to hand a stooge a paper and have them read it as their own, complete with scripted tears.

With this bunch I think that they called a stooge who masquerades as a reporter and requested that she read the question - notice his stumble in the transcript:

“Okay? All right. I tried to make that short so that Lynn Sweet would get her — the last question in.”

And I do think that Gates is such an immature crackpot that he called his BBF and asked for pressure on the police dept.

therefore, that libtard lady in Chicago is a LIAR too.

Of course. You could smell the stench of the Chicago mob all over that setup.
