Their religion, rituals, dress, and habits are fundamentally at odds with western civilization. More need not be said. Iraq at this time is neither free nor democratic.

Iraq, having been largely a secular society for decades is more culturally advanced than a lot of the Middle Eastern countries. And now, with a few years of direct American influence, they are becoming more-so. They tend to dress like we do, they watch American TV shows and movies dubbed in Arabic, they listen to our music and they pick up American slang.

Wearing a hat or T-shirt that depicts an American sports franchise is a mark of prestige in Iraq.

There is a guard who works at a checkpoint in Baghdad who wears a cowboy hat and swaggers around, much to the admiration of his peers.

The nightclubs and bars are lively here now that the security situation has improved.

Don't tar all Iraqis with that Terrorist Brush. They've lived with terrorism for the past few years and hate terrorists as much as we do.

Happy to see their is intelligence in this thread and people realize that this is a good thing

Education is the key to defeating terror over the long term. Education is the key to making Iraq live up to the vision the We the People of the United States have for it, and paid for with our treasure and lives.

To “free” them and now allow them to be educated so they can improve their society, build their own roads, power plants and universitites is absurd.
