yeah ok.......considering our schools are teaching more about how to correctly apply condoms instead of math, science etc. What a wonderful tribute to American AcademiaYou're confusing secondary with post-secondary education. Secondary American education is a basket-case. Post secondary, not so much, but no better than good universities in the rest of the world(outside of MIT and Harvard). Graduate programs are still #1 in the world.
This is college, OW ... those things are taught in US public middle schools .. by college, it’s long past.
Actually, I think this is a very good idea. The Iraqi government is paying their tuition, so that’s not an issue.
These students will be the best and brightest of their country, and the leaders of Iraq in future generations. I’d prefer people holding leadership positions overseas have a US educational background (i.e., Bibi) and good feelings toward the US from having lived here temporarily.
These will be students who can come here ONLY because they were freed by Americans, Brits, Aussies, Canadians, etc., and they KNOW it (unlike too many of their US counterparts). They start from a good pro-US position.
Actually, I’ve always thought one of the reasons Bush chose to go into Iraq was because it has one of the more advanced cultures in the Middle East, with a history of successful education and business enterprises that could be built on after being rid of Heussein.
