WASILLA, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin kicked off the first of three picnics marking her departure from office with a hometown tribute to the troops and an elbow at the news media.
Speaking before a friendly crowd at a park here Friday night, two days before she resigns, Palin invoked her soldier son to assure supporters that she is not downcast over the political frustrations that are prompting her to quit before her term is up.
She told the hundreds gathered in a military Honor Garden that she wanted to do something more worthy than speaking politics before sharing a story about a reporter who had asked her about how she handles difficult days.
I said, Oh no, it is not a down day my son called this week from Iraq, Palin recalled, referring to her son, Track, an Army enlistee. He is safe, he is sound. It is always a good day when my son calls.
Interrupting the applause, Palin said: I wish that some in the media would keep things like that in perspective, what is really important in our country. And what is important is our freedoms, Americas security, our liberty.
Later, citing military families that have lost loved ones, she again drew loud applause by saying: Let us continue to love our country, be proud of our country, never apologize for our country.

Uh oh! I smell another “ethics” investigation coming...
LOL!
....all of this just to vote for Sarah :)
Geez where do you guys live??! I just go to the Village Hall. The lady who handles the sign in cards has been doing it since Teddy Roosevelt ran and can never find my name and one time I had to have a conversation with an annoying neighbor. But I've never encountered nudity, broken glass, lava, ACORN workers, KOS kids, or Al Franken on the way to the polls. ;-)
My thoughtless liberal mother-in-law fears Palin, and doesn’t think her resignation goes far enough. Why? She said, “If they elect Bush twice, they’ll elect anything”.
I'd probably just keep my clothes on and walk into the polling booth to vote for her, but hey, it takes all kinds.
I can't think of anyone else, female or male, in the public eye right now that exemplifies the values I want my three daughters to aspire to. God bless & keep Sarah Palin!
LOVE LOVE LOVE the Liberty and Tyranny book she is holding. NICE. That is sending a message to the press right there. I hope she goes on Mark Levin’s show.
And I’d go even further, I’d walk through a Nation of Islam rally to vote for her AND I would eat broken glass. If she is not our nominee in 2012 I will write her name in. She IS my President. She loves America and she will fight for freedom. What a wonderful human being, politico is a thug web site “Beginning of the end” yeah they wish, she is only beginning her fight. I Hope she tells the ass clown reporters over there to go shove it. Unethical bastards. Sarah says “Never apologize for our country” while Obama, on the other hand, shakes hands with Khadafi
Tell your mother in law, that she is right, I mean, they elected Obama, a Marxist, so I guess, doesn’t that make her stupid?
She makes me proud to be an American.
And her choice of books has increased my estimation of her, which I wasn’t sure was possible.
Now if she’d only speak at the Reagan Library. Oh wait... ;)
The best person in politics since RWR!
I’d become a Democrat and join Acorn just to be able to Vote for Sarah 20 times and have my dead relatives and dogs follow suit!
She’s certainly the only one we have had since RWR who can speak directly to the people. I’m glad she’s winding down her obligation to Alaska and moving on - away from the spurious ethics accusations and onto the national stage:

“If Palin is not on the ballot in 2012 I will write in her name.”
Right now she’s got the right message, but is not the right messenger. If she does the things to become the right person (international travel, for starters) then I’d be honored to vote for her.
Wow do you live in a boring neighborhood.
Beginning of the end?
Or the end of the beginning.
I caught Greta’s part 2 with Rush, last night. He was very positve about Palin, but said it was too early to pick a candidate for 2012. Greta was very surprised that he had never met her.
You mean the mark the end of the beginning.
And look who’s aware of Palin having his book:
