AUSTIN Kay Bailey Hutchison slammed Rick Perry's decision four months ago to reject $555 million in economic stimulus money to help the unemployed, saying Friday that it was "reckless" and showed a lack of both leadership and judgment.
"This is yet another Rick Perry disaster," Hutchison said in a written statement.
When she was first asked about the governor's decision in March to turn down the money, she gently chastised him for not coming up with a better solution.
Perry spokesman Mark Miner said the senator has not been clear on where she stands.
"She's playing a game of Washington politics, and that's not going to play here in Texas. She's taken several positions on the same issue," Miner said.

I’m curious regarding your views on Gov Perry. Would you elaborate?
PS KBH is a twit and a ‘mole’
Typical rino. Perhaps if KBH would start ‘slamming’ democrats instead of republicans and conservatives she would have a future.
(eye roll)
I agree with you. At the very least she should keep her mouth shut about other Republicans.
She’s already over stayed her welcome here. Time for her to go.
>> As much as I can’t stomach Perry, KBH is far worse.
That’s my conclusion. And Huckabee (a.k.a. “McCain II”) in her corner isn’t helping to change my mind, either.
You know and we know that the whole stimulus thing is a bunch of BS, so stop defending it.
Kay Bailey is worthless.
KBH: Half Human. Half Northerner. All RINO.
I though it was block the border fence, Kay Baily Hutchinson , The Texas Witch. I always said bitch but someone, probably on her staff, objected.
I’m with you. It’s like trying to figure out who to root for when the Eagles play the Redskins. They’re both evil, but at this time the Eagles are more eviler. That said, as much as Perry hacks me off sometimes, he was better than Kinky, one Nutty Grandma, anything the Rats put up, and he’s better than KBH. I’ll have a lot easier time pulling the lever for Perry than I had pulling it for McCain.
And why would she want to run against Perry?
I don't have a good feeling about her just based on those things and I don't know that much about her voting record.
She runs as a "fiscal conservative" while voting with libs to raise taxes and deny freedom.
Watch carefully how she votes for Sotomayor.
“I heard that KBH refused to accept an anti-nationalized health care petition from tea party people in Dallas recently.”
If true, she is toast here in Texas unless she finds a ‘spoiler’ and I am sure Huckabee is advising her on just how to do that. They all make me sick. Perry has his faults too..but not like her. At least he has some fight and spine left in him, which is what we need right now. KBH as governor of this great state would be an utter nightmare.
Perry has veered hard right. I haven’t seen what KBH will do, yet. Right now, what we’ll see is not what the candidates actually believe, but what they think will get them elected. If KBH runs a moderate McCain campaign, I think she’s misreading Texan viewpoints. Even in Texas, though, the McCain moderate/Rockefeller wing is very strong in the Metroplex power circles. They just can’t get anyone elected. So, they pretend to be conservative. KBH is most likely the strongly preferred candidate in those circles.
Are you a Texan? Because if you are, I gotta say you Texans are spoiled. Perry is about 26 billion times better than the Republican governor we have here in California.
I met Perry yesterday and was impressed. His views on tort reform, the 10th Amendment, illegals, business regulation, and taxes seem sensible. Also, he’s an Aggie which should irritate my UT relatives.
Any Governor who is willing to invoke the 10th amendment in order to reject Obamacare is okay in my book.
KBH lost respect from us a long time ago.
