As an AmeriCorps member, you are expected to adhere to the AmeriCorps pledge. ( If you don’t have a pledge certificate, ask your project director for one.) The pledge represents the commitment you have taken to serve not just this year, but in the years ahead.

The AmeriCorps Pledge

I will get things done for America -
to make our people safer,
smarter, and healthier.

I will bring Americans together
to strengthen our communities.

Faced with apathy,
I will take action.

Faced with conflict,
I will seek common ground.

Faced with adversity,
I will persevere.

I will carry this commitment
with me this year and beyond.

I am an AmeriCorps member,
and I will get things done.

That's fine kid.

Now, here's a bucket paint — cover over that gang graffiti.

FWIW, AmeriCorps was around under W and Clinton. They came trying to recruit seniors from my high school last June for their City Year program, where graduates take a year after high school to volunteer to improve the cities and get a scholarship in return. I, of course, didn’t join since I don’t believe it’s the FedGov’s job to be doing stuff like that. That, and I had already joined the Guard.

OK - I vote to Impeach Obama.

I will bring Americans together to strengthen our communities.
I’m not a community organizer.

Faced with conflict, I will seek common ground.
Forget common ground - I seek truth and will never go the way of evil; i.e. for starters, abortion.

Faced with adversity, I will persevere.
Tell that to the professor who was ‘rightly’ arrested and to BO for his slander of the police dept in favor of the black race.

I will carry this commitment with me this year and beyond.
Like BO and all ‘his commitments’. Where are the jobs?

It’s not like they need ad revenue, they have your tax dollars.

Quotes of Adolf Hitler

“I begin with the young. We older ones are used up. We are rotten to the marrow. We are cowardly and sentimental. We are bearing the burden of a humiliating past, and have in our blood the dull recollection of serfdom and servility. But my magnificent youngsters! Are there any finer ones in the world? Look at these young men and boys! What material! With them, I can make a new world. This is the heroic stage of youth. Out of it will come the creative man, the man-god.”

“When an opponent declares, ‘I will not come over to your side,’ I say calmly, ‘Your child belongs to us already...What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing but this new community’.”

“...Knowledge would spoil my young people. I prefer that they learn only what they pick up by following their own play instinct. But they must learn self-control. I will have them master the fear of death through the most difficult trials. That is the heroic stage of youth. Out of it will grow the stage of the free man, a human being who is the measure and center of the world.”

“The German youth must be slender and supple, fast as a greyhound, tough as leather, and hard as Krupp steel. He must learn to do without, to endure criticism and injustice, to be reliable, discreet, decent, and loyal.”

If you retitle that “The White Supremicist Pledge”, I’ll bet you’d get howls for the exact same copy.

I don’t know. But I had to jump through more hoops, show more documents, and receive a broader background check to get a low-level enlisted job in the Army than Obama had to to become president. I read somewhere that if he applied for one, he couldn’t receive a security clearance. I guess he gets off easy, because he’s had a “tough life.”

Thank you for your service-you were smart not to get sucked into that BS. I have a nephew that joined Americrap while going to some sort of art school in Chicago. He is a flaming liberal now and I think he is still working with them & still going to school. I think he will never do anything except go to school and “serve the underprivleged” neighborhoods. Not sure how he does that or how he pays his bills, but it don't look good for my view.
