I would say the number one bashed group in America are the evangelicals or the protestants in general. The Southern baptist portion alone of the Baptist versions are the second largest church in America, second only to the Catholic church, yet they are constantly bashed and never respected.
How often do you see the movie hero go talk to his Southern Baptist minister or set foot in any kind of a Baptist church, how often if ever, has a non collar wearing protestant minister played a positive role in a horror film? Catholics get bashed but they also get all the positive roles as well.
Roman Catholics, by virtue of opposition to abortionv and no female priests, are near the top too.
My message to the attackers is this: It’s no longer chic or cutting edge to bash Christians. If you really want to push the envelope, turn your sights to the Islamic religion.
They do suffer in the movies don't they?
Forrest Gump seems to be the only recent movie I can remember to portray any church in a positive light.
