CNN president kills birther story
TVNewser reports that CNN President Jon Klein has declared a halt to birther coverage -- a tacit shot at Lou Dobbs.
Klein forwarded Dobbs's producers a memo under this heading, which I suspect won't calm the conspiracists:
Since the show's mission is for Lou to be the explainer and enlightener, he should be sure to cite this during your segment tonite. And then it seems this story is dead - because anyone who still is not convinced doesn't really have a legitimate beef.

TVNewser has learned CNN/U.S. president Jon Klein sent an email to a handful of “Lou Dobbs Tonight” staffers last night regarding the coverage of the so-called birthers and the validity of Pres. Obama’s birth in the U.S.
In part, Klein writes, “It seems this story is dead- because anyone who still is not convinced doesn’t really have a legitimate beef.” Klein asked CNN researchers to dig into the question of why Obama couldn’t produce the original birth certificate. The researchers contacted the Hawaii Health Dept. and confirmed that paper documents were discarded in 2001 when the department went paperless. That reportedly includes Pres. Obama’s original birth certificate.
Last night on Dobbs’ show, CNN analyst Roland Martin and Rep. Ted Poe (R-TX), one of nine co-sponsors of a bill that would certify Presidential candidates’ U.S. births going forward, debated the issue.
A very fired-up Martin who thinks the whole issue is “hilarious” got a bit of a scolding from Dobbs:
“Roland, I would like you to remember, if you would, and I’m trying to be as nice as I can be, but you are yelling and getting awfully excited about something that doesn’t require this.” By the way, Dobbs has said over and over and over again that he believes Obama was born in the U.S.
MSNBC’s Chris Matthews, who has also been covering this story extensively, has been showing his viewers a “Certificate of Live Birth” validated by the state of Hawaii.
But that’s not enough for some people who still believe without an original birth certificate, that Pres. Obama was not born in the United States, a qualification to be president.

Well, the clue here is from what they said... they “went paperless” and then “confirmed that paper documents were discarded in 2001”

There have been a few times when I’ve really liked people on CNN, yet they seem out of place there. Then they ultimately go to Fox!
Bill Hemmer, Tucker Carlson and Glenn Beck, for example. Hopefully Dobbs will be next.
They just trashed all their paper records. But they take high resolution images of the birth records Hmmmmmmmmm....

The question is not "was he born in Kenya?", the question is "why can't he just release his birth certificate as millions of Americans do when they apply for a Social Security card or US Passport?"
He's claimed two different birth hospitals. And the historical record at UPI, Wikipedia, and Snopes was quick to make the update with a not so public retraction to the earlier "fact".
He's been asked to produce his birth certificate. He's produced a modern document called a certificate of live birth. it is lacking the name of the hospital and the attendent physician.
I've heard that the hospital claims to have destroyed the originals when they went electric (and apparently purged the historical record of a number of bits of data).
No matter though since Barack claims to have held his birth certificate when he was going through some old papers (see DREAMS OF MY FATHER).
So what's the excuse going to be this time?
If the certificate "already has been released" (a different question than "prove you weren't born in kenya"), enter it as evidence in one of the lawsuits. "Here it is, there is nothing more to release".
So now they are claiming that the records were destroyed? That’s strange. Other people have been able to get their long form BC from Hawaii since they claimed the records were ‘destroyed’ that includes their birth hospital, attending physician, etc.
This is just more BS from the Obama lap dogs in the media.
What race is African? Is that like European or South American?
They do have it on record, in accordance with state policies and procedures... that is... “electronically”... :-)

Apparently US citizens have no “tangible interest” in assessing whether an inelligible candidate sits in the White House defying the US Constitution.

Totally agree. Especially with this out-of-the-blue declaration of, oh, by the way...we forgot to tell you. The birth certificate was destroyed. oops.
The thrust of all the reporting has been that Obama HAS shown his official Hawaiian BC. It's been reported ad nauseum that it's been totally researched, verified, authenticated, posted on the web, thoroughly vetted, scrutinized, and determined to be proof-positive, THE double-plus Official Obama Birth Certificate.
The vast majority of people were wholly satisfied with that and anyone asking questions was a nutcase. Now, the logical question is: why in hell didn't you just tell us a year ago?And just what IS that you've been calling a birth certificate, anyway? At least now, they're having to acknowledge that there IS a difference between a Birth Certificate and a Certification of Live Birth.

Cnn/Klein probably took the blue pill and bent over at the whitehouse. Whitehouse must have a line of patients outside his office I wonder how long Klien had to wait and pay..
They do have an interest... all they’ve got to do is pass a state law and it’s solved... just like that...
Right, you can still get a long form Hawaiian birth certificate if you visit the DOH in person.
They are now claiming that the original was destroyed.
what about his records from the schools he went to they destroyed in a fire too???
They have what on record? We’ve been told that the COLB is the BC. But the Hawaiian official said that the BC won’t be released to individuals who do not have a particually pressing interest to see it.
So is there more information on the BC that isn’t on the COLB?
Or does Hawaii only have COLBs for anyone born after 1908 now?
