I’ve heard one commentary that this racial distraction takes health care out of the news intentionally, since the president had demanded it be done by the august recess, and it was evident before the news conference that that timetable would not hold.

He didn’t want it to look like a loss, so he gave the media something to distract it. I don’t know if CNN, MSNBC, and others are running with the Harvard prof story or not, but if they are, then that tells me something. If Obama wanted 24/7 health care coverage, he’d let them know, and they’d do what he wanted.

Then again, I could be far too clever by half, and totally over-thinking this situation.

That well could be. Our beloved celebrities better watch their step, too. They drop like flies when the news is uncomfortable.

What I find interesting is this guy runs as if he were recording secretary of the D.A.R. He took all of Hillary's race bombs and turned the other cheek to show the world he wasn't a black candidate, but a dignified, colorblind everyman.

Yet once in office he keeps making all these racial assessments and criticisms. Without a teleprompter he inelegantly spoke his true feelings which were to call the Cambridge police "stupid" and to tell the world America is now and always has been a racist, dangerous nation.

He is a phony for so many reasons, and the ever-growing backlash will not be pretty.

This story, however, has run its course with today's big-gun press conference by the cops. Obama will not go up against the police union. A few more snide, off-the-cuff remarks by this empty Armani suit, and 2010 will be a very good year for the Republicans.
