DENVER -- President Barack Obama specifically profiled the plight of a Colorado woman failed by the health care system in Wednesday night's nationally televised address.
But when 7NEWS started asking basic questions such as where is she from and what is her name, the administration that prides itself on being transparent wouldn't say a word.
In Wednesday night's speech, Obama said, "This is about the woman in Colorado who paid $700 a month to her insurance company, only to find out that they wouldn't pay a dime for her cancer treatment, who had to use up her retirement funds to save her own life." Click here to find out more!
Pretty compelling stuff, right?
Her story is so important that the president told it to the entire country.
7NEWS thought it was important enough to fact check.
But when we called the White House Press Office to find out more about this very public story, a spokesman said the White House wants to protect the woman's privacy and won't be releasing any information about her.
Not her name. Not where she's from. Nothing.
When there are so many people suffering, coming forward with health care nightmares, why choose to highlight a woman you can't name? Does the woman actually exist?

Am I just imagining things, or is the media starting to (finally!) ask real questions?
Maybe it’s dawning on reporters that they will lose their health care too.

Sure - it’s Ward Churchill.
Probably the same old lady that was collecting cans to pay for her meds, even though she was fully covered.

On the NY Times fact check...
I predicted several weeks ago that the elites will turn on Obie when his policies threaten to impact them personally. The MSM and Dem elites can shrug off higher taxes, higher costs of fuel, etc. But this one they can't run from. Obie's presidency is dead.
This is like that fake “Tommy” kid that Harry Reid made up in the immigration argument a couple years back. The Democrats just make up fake problems for the government to solve.
ROFL!
They make up birth certificates too
Ping.
Colorado's Democratic Party Chair defended the president's decision to keep the person private.
"It makes a lot of sense to me. You can give an example, we give examples all the time, of how a policy works or doesn't work," she said. "And to make it more relevant, we may mention a first name or no name at all to tell the story. This is about telling the story, not necessarily pointing your finger at a specific person in the community."
LMAO!!! Cmon, this is about telling stories and it doesn't matter if the facts are true.
They probably made her up out of thin air. I wouldn’t be at all surprised.
Time for him to go!!
What an embarrassment to this country.
Teleprompter writing fiction now???
The irony is that policing the insurance industry is the primary responsibility of the States. Many of the States, particularly large red States (e.g., CA, NY, ILL) have ineffective insurance / health plan regulatory agencies.
California's Department of Managed Healthcare is probably the worst. Horribly politicized and ineffective, largely due to the fact that the agency director is appointed by the Governor and not elected. Many in the know say that the DMHC is the best watch dog the health plans could buy. Not surprisingly, health plans and insurance companies are big donors to politicians.
Another example of Government creating a "crisis" and using it to curtail freedom and and amass power.
Fix Medicare First! Don't even talk about messing with private sector health care until you fix existing government healthcare programs.
the only thing transparent about this administration are its lies.
