Ghoulish, unethical, profit-seeking quacks would say that, though, wouldnt they? Lets see what they think once theyve got a community organizer with four years of federal policy experience riding herd on them. Theres a new sheriff in town, bloodsuckers!

LOL!
I had mine out at 11 after years of sickness. It was necessary.
As Obama gets himself backed into a corner, expect to see more of his arrogant comments come out, where he specifically bashes doctors and other healthcare providers.
And if he hired a 31 year old law school dropout from his campaign to run the auto bailout, who do you think he will hire as the Obamacare Czar? I wonder if anyone on his campaign was a heroin addict who had to wait on line at a methadone clinic. That would certainly qualify them.
Dr., would you please address #6 above? ... Am I remembering incorrectly?
About time................./s
It’s too bad congress is exempt from Obamacare. Maybe it would put a stop to all the unnecessary spinectomies and frontal labotamies. Not to mention the botox and plastic surgery bills.
Any doctor dealing with children wants to see them as little as possible. I had a tough childhood with birth complications, cancer, and a genetic disorder and a doctor was thrilled if he could say I never had to see him again.
What was that first rule? “First, do nothing below cost”? Or something like that.
I believe you are correct. Ear nose and throat doctors don’t take out many tonsils nowadays unless the patient is having significant problems with them. (I don’t perform tonsillectomies, myself, not my specialty)
Remember however, that the alternative to having your tonsils removed is to taking regular doses of antibiotics for sore throats etc. Which may be appealing to Obama if he gets the pharmaceutical companies over a barrel to cut prices. The problem is that the more antibiotics you are exposed to, the higher your risk of developing a resistant bacteria, like MRSA or C. difficile colitis. And antibiotic resistant bacteria is probably a bigger problem now, that too many tonsillectomies.
Apparently not after Obamacare is instituted! From then on kids will just be told to live with it that is unless you are a minority then you will probably get what you need.
It’s so weird to read of all these people having their tonsils out! I can’t think of even one person in my whole family that’s had them out! I guess we’ve been lucky from the sound of it.
I’m 48 and stll have my tonsils. Perhaps I should talk to the DR about having them out now while I still have insurance?
I don't know who that Anathesia woman is, but in order to deal with her one might need anesthesia.
There is no way to know that non surgical care will save money in the long run. Doctors in this country operate on the basis of what is best for the patient not what is best for the hospital’s accounting books.
And that's putting it nicely!
On the tonsils thing, I still have mine, but had adenoids out at six with excellent results and the welcomed disappearance of drooling snot. Now my girl just went to the ENT for suspected adenoid problems, but after the x-ray he is not recommending removing them, attributing the problems to allergies instead. This alone disproves Obama's claim, since insurance would have paid for the procedure.
Funny, when I was a child tonsil removal was almost mass production.
None of my four children had theirs removed!
I’m 61 years old. When I was a child (decades ago, before any kind of socialized medicine), it was recommended that I have my tonsils out. Lo and behold, I didn’t have anymore sore throats that required this type of surgery. I’ve still got my tonsils (atrophied as they may be).
