Boeing 787 may not fly this year
Seattle Times ^ | 07/22/09 | Dominic Gates

Posted on 07/22/2009 1:10:26 PM PDT by AngelesCrestHighway

The structural flaw that delayed the first flight of the 787 Dreamliner is more complex than originally described by the company, and the plane's inaugural takeoff is likely at least four to six months away, say two engineers with knowledge of Boeing's problem.

"It's got to take at least three to four months just to get something installed on an airplane," said a structures engineer who has been briefed on the issue. "It's definitely a costly fix to go and do this work."

And you don’t think that Boeing never stole information?

And 99.99% of all of the information about the “Dreamliner” IS available on the internet.

Boeing itself released tons of information about the 787.

Hell do a Google search, and you get over 3 million hits for “Boeing Dreamliner”, and over a million hits for “Boeing 787”. “787 composite structures” yields over 38,000 hits.

Nice try though, but flightglobal.com has been in the bag for Boeing for years now.

And you still havn’t provided any proof about Boeing holding the patents for the technology that you implied Airbus stole.

No zippy, I’m not “in the bag” for Airbus.

I merely point out the obvious hypocrisy of you Boeing cheerleaders who act as if Boeing is as pure as the driven snow.

People like you claim that Airbus is corrupt, yet you overlook Boeing’s long history of corruption and playing fast and loose to win government bids just so they can ship them off overseas.

People like you claim that Airbus’ “fall out of the sky” for (insert union supplied reason here) when Boeing aircraft also fall out of the sky.

People like you claim that the union at Airbus is socialist, and overlook the fact that the guy who leads the AFL-CIO (to which Boeing’s union is a part of) is a card carrying member of the communist party who openly supports your beloved dear leader 0bama.

People like you claim that Airbus gets subsidies and other “launch aid”, while Boeing gets the same sort of benefits from local, state, and federal governments.

Honestly, I don’t give a rats ass who makes an airliner as long as it gets me from point A to point B. I’ve flown on Airbus, Boeing, Lockheed, and McDonnell Douglas built aircraft and they ALL have their strengths and weaknesses.

As par for the course you miss the point by a mile, I never said Union was referring to their location and the subsidies. Personally I prefer Boeing planes they make it to the desired airport instead of someone’s back yard or the ocean.

“was referring to their location and the subsidies.”

Oh, so subsidies to Boeing is good then?

Subsidies such as no-bid government R&D contracts.

Tax credit for every employee as well as an additional tax credit for every aircraft produced in Washington State.

A new port facility that was paid for with taxpayer's money.

Government subsidies from Japan, and Italy for development of new aircraft such as the 787 and the 747 based “Dreamlifter”.

As of April of this year, Boeing only pays an average of 3.2% tax compared to other large corporations in this country that pay upwards of 35% per year on average.

Each year Boeing gets millions of dollars worth of “loans” that Boeing never has to pay off.

Airbus on the other hand receives loans that are paid off with interest.

“Personally I prefer Boeing planes they make it to the desired airport instead of someone’s back yard or the ocean.”

Really?

Tell that the the families of those aboard TWA flight 800

Or United Airlines flight 585, or US Air flight 427 for that matter.

Try again:

The Honorable John Bruton
European Union
Delegation of the European Commission to the United States
2300 M Street, NW
Washington, DC 20037

Dear Ambassador Bruton:

On June 8, 2009, Bloomberg News reported that Airbus is seeking approximately $5 billion in launch aid from the governments of France, Germany, Spain and the United Kingdom (U.K.) to fund the development of the Airbus A350. Reports indicate that the deal could be completed at the Paris Air Show.

Since 1969, the European governments of France, Germany, Spain and the U.K. have supported Airbus’ commercial aircraft development with over $15 billion in launch aid – high risk loans at no- or low-interest, with repayment contingent on the commercial success of the aircraft. The amount of launch aid Airbus has received during the lifetime of the company – if repaid on commercial terms – is well-over $100 billion dollars.

I am deeply troubled that Airbus is considering pursuing additional illegal, trade distorting subsidies that have caused adverse effects on the United States aerospace industry at the same time the European Union (EU) is being sued in the World Trade Organization (WTO) for such practices.

The message sent by the U.S. government has been clear. Launch aid for the A350, or any other form of preferential financing for Airbus, is completely unacceptable. We will not tolerate another round of subsidies that kill American jobs.

Such action will be viewed by the United States as a major step in the wrong direction and a clear sign that the EU has no interest in pursuing an amicable and fair economic relationship with the United States.

I would like to see a negotiated end to WTO-inconsistent aircraft subsidies, but the commitment of billions of Euros of additional launch aid will, necessarily, make that end much more difficult to achieve.

I strongly urge you to show that the EU is serious about pursuing fair trade practices with the United States by ending any discussion or movement forward with these subsidies.

Sincerely,
Patty Murray
United States Senator

Oh yeah, and we should take the word of some bimbo communist senator who’s been bought and paid for by Boeing.

Note that Boeing is her #1 contributor:
http://www.opensecrets.org/politicians/summary.php?cid=n00007876

She whines about Airbus getting $15 billion in loans that IS paid back WITH interest, yet doesn’t bat an eye when Boeing gets over $25 billion in loans that it NEVER has to pay back.

Oh the hypocrisy!

Washington State exempts Boeing from various taxes and environmental regulations.

Boeing’s 1997 $14 billion purchase of McDonnell Douglas was subsidized by the Pentagon’s payment for executive bonuses, layoffs, and other “restructuring costs” under 1993 “Payoffs for Layoffs” legislation passed with military contractor political contributions

Boeing and Microsoft, respectively, are among the corporations most affected by a ruling, issued last Monday by a WTO dispute panel in Geneva, that a tax break the U.S. government gives to U.S.-based corporations for export sales violates free-trade rules. Boeing’s benefits from the law amounted to $130 million in 1998, $230 million in 1999, and $291 million in 2000.

In 2003 Washington State gave Boeing:

A $3.2 billion tax break

$4.2 billion in transportation improvements across the state

$24 million to establish recruitment, training, and employment programs and a work force center for Boeing and suppliers

$15.5 million for improvements at the Port of Everett satellite rail-barge facility

And reforms to the state’s unemployment insurance and injured workers’ compensation systems.

I lost because I showed that patty “osama mama” murray’s largest donor bloc is Boeing thus proving her bias?

ROFL

You are either on drugs, or should be on drugs for your delusions of grandure because it is YOU who has lost.

You have yet to back up your claim that Airbus “lifted” (stole) technology from Boeing.

You then go into spin mode claiming that what you said wasn’t really what you said..... A tactic that liberals use all the time. Two of the best examples is clintons “It depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is.”, and your heerow 0bama opening his mouth, only to come back the next day saying that it “wasn’t what he really meant when he said what he said.”

But by all means keep rattling off those Boeing and AFL-CIO issued talking points. It’s really quite entertaining watching you going through your spin cycle.

Everything I said about her is based on FACTS which is obviously something you can’t comprehend.

She is from the far left, and quite a few of her views tie in with the teachings of Lenin and Marx.

And Boeing is her single largest bloc of contributors.

But by all means keep on spinning since you can’t find any FACTS to back up your claims that Airbus “lifted” (stole) technology from Boeing.

“No I comprehend facts real well”

Based on your posts, I doubt that.

“and see you very clearly.”

Oh really?

Care to elaborate or are you going to remain the little troll that you are and hide behind your anonymity while sniping at those who don’t agree with you?

You lost the argument when you couldn’t back up your claims and post the patents that Boeing holds for the technology and processes that YOU claimed that Airbus “lifted” (stole) from Boeing.

NO.

You deal with it TROLL.

You make absurd claims that you failed to back up, then you start playing your little word games by saying that what you said wasn’t what you said.

Now you make a baseless accusation that I somehow “bashed America” because OMG I point out that your beloved Boeing isn’t as pure as the driven snow.

But by saying that I “bashed America” you just proven my point that it was YOU who lost the argument.

Your Points are invalid and defending this makes you look even more foolish if that is even possible.
