Dems Start To Push Back Hard To Prevent A 'Waterloo'

A telling episode recounted by Senate Finance ranking member Charles Grassley reveals the Obama administration might be more worried than they are letting on that a Republican senator's comparison of the healthcare overhaul to Waterloo might be dangerously close to the truth.

Grassley said he spoke with a Democratic House member last week who shared Obama's bleak reaction during a private meeting to reports that some factions of House Democrats were lining up to stall or even take down the overhaul unless leaders made major changes.

"Let's just lay everything on the table," Grassley said. "A Democrat congressman last week told me after a conversation with the president that the president had trouble in the House of Representatives, and it wasn't going to pass if there weren't some changes made ... and the president says, 'You're going to destroy my presidency.' " ...

'You're going to destroy my presidency.'

Nothing better could happen for the country, or for the democrat party, than for the Obama personality cult to run headlong into a brick wall.

What he doesn’t realize is that “he” is destroying his own presidency. I think this goes back to “experience”.....or something like that. Didn’t someone say something about “
On the job training” at one time?

The democrat party should be concerned for its survival. It has elected an absolute novice, socialist non-contender for president, whose hidden agenda and foreign associations are taking the country down a very wrong path.

The country became very angry at Clinton for his embarrassing mis-deeds and stupidities, which ushered in 8 years of Bush. Now that the country is already boiling with rage at Obama, ask how it will react to democrats in the elections of 2010 and 2012.

What’s really needed is a Joan d’Arc-like figure named Sarah Palin, to cross party lines and restore sensible, Constitutional governance that democrats AND republicans can support.

headline is not accurate....I bet roughly half the Dems would like to throw the Bamster under the bus before he ends their careers in 2010

I believe...if you really dig into this mess...he’s made forty or fifty deals with various groups or special business interests...and their profit line will go beyond anything they can imagine within six years. He told congress he wants the ability to control the actual cost levels himself...out of the White House. With the statement, he also indicated that one cost level would exist...he’d keep the most expensive regions of the US at one level....and raise cost across the board to equal that region. Doctors at the other 95 percent of America...would get rich off this deal in the end.

What you have to imagine...is that this giant magnet of funding...will eventually require the US government to make several momentous decisions. One will be the decrease or shrinking of the US military...in order to pay for this operation. We could be talking about a thirty percent cut....to make the apparatus work.

In the same fashion...this tax surcharge on the rich....probably is half or even one third of what is really required. Their fortunes will be taken as well.

As always....it isn’t his words that matter...it’s his actions.

The Dems are not in too great of a position: commit political suicide (with constituents) by going off the cliff with 0bama or commit political suicide (with 0bama and party leaders) by not going off the cliff with him. Popcorn time....

"and the president says, 'You're going to destroy my presidency.' " ..."

It's finally dawning on him that pretending to know what you're doing can only take you so far...even WITH the devoted cover of the MSM.

Of course most people learn this lesson during adolescence.

That's the price America is now paying for ignoring the warnings of those who recognized the foolishness of putting someone in the White House with no qualifications other than an ability to deliver words written for him by others eloquently and politically cool skin color.

My liberal daughter thinks they will definitely pass something, its just a question of how much they will compromise to get something (anything) passed just to say they did healthcare reform no matter how worthless it really is.

Your daughter and Charles Krauthammer are in full agreement there. The problem is that the Hard Left believes that they own him and that he owes them Single Payer. When they see the watered-down slop that he ends up signing they are gonna freak.

I believe it is illegal for a representative to promise his vote in exchange for campaign contributions. But that is what democrats do when they pledge to support the party line, in exchange for party funding. RICO statute, anyone?

I dont know if my daughter qualifies as ‘hard left’ but she says she would like single payer but knows it would never pass. Most of the real fighting seems to be over that ‘public option’ thing zero keeps talking about. My daughter says she is fighting for that because it is the only way she will ever be insured (she has pre-existing conditions). My neighbor down the street is the same way. She is diabetic and lost her job a few months ago. She found a new job but it doesnt have insurance and she cant afford cobra. Now my sister has recruited her into the march toward socialism. We need to find these people an alternative to obamacare or they just might succeed in pushing it through.
