Most likely just trying to give the brushoff to a nut job. You can’t reason with those people, best to just humor them and move on. I don’t like Paul much but I think there’s nothing to this.
This is coming from LGF. Chuckles Johnson’s obsessions haunt him (Ron Paul, Fox News, DHS “right-wing” report, Robert Spencer, conservative blogs and my personal favorite, the evils of creationism) he even ran a hit piece on Jim Robinson the other day.

I think you're being too generous to Congressman Paul, and I actually like the guy. If he doesn't believe in the 9/11 Truth garbage then he should have the courage to politely but clearly state as much. He likes to trumpet his commitment to principle but then he plays along with these people so as to not risk losing their support.
Of course, you can't expect perfection out of anyone, and certainly not from politicians.
