Taliban commander killed in Afghanistan

A SENIOR Taliban insurgent commander has been killed in an operation led by Afghan National Security Forces and supported by Australian special forces troops. Chief of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Mark Evans said with the phase of that operation now complete it could be revealed that Mullah Amanullah Akhund was killed after insurgents opened fire on a combined Australian and Afghan patrol.

He said patrol members returned fire, killing Akhund and two others.

Lieutenant General Evans said Akhund was known to have made and placed road-side bombs in Oruzgan province, in southern Afghanistan.

Now all we have to do is find out where the buggers are. I think we might be getting close though. Remember, right before we found Saddamm we had killed a couple of his high command and captured Dr. Germ, one of his biowarfare scientists. Then we killed his two spud in a firefight.

Chief of Joint Operations Lieutenant General Mark Snave said with the phase of that operation now complete it could be revealed that Nguyen Bac Dung was killed after insurgents opened fire on a combined Australian and PRU patrol.

“He said patrol members returned fire, killing Dung and two others.

“Lieutenant General Snave said Dung was known to have made and placed anti-personel mines in Quang Nam province, in central South Vietnam....”

Not too sure if the depiction is meant to represent Aussies or Commonwealth forces in general (soldier is wearing British DPM). Here's a photo of two different Aussie camo patterns in Afghanistan: On the left is the desert pattern with the temperate pattern on the right. More desert pattern:
