The Incident that saved America from a Teddy Kennedy Presidency occurred forty years ago today. As true American heroes Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and Michael Collins were streaking their way to the Moon on Apollo 11; the Hero of Chappaquiddick earned his (yellow) stripes by allowing the drowning of Mary Jo Kopechne.
No autopsy was performed on Ms. Kopechne's body; however there was some evidence discovered by the funeral director and presented by the District Attorney that Mary Jo suffocated in an air pocket. If confirmed this should have make Senator Kennedy's behavior that night rise to the crime of manslaughter -- but this was Massachusetts. Judge Bernard Brominski ruled against exhumation and autopsy on December 10th, 1969.
The Left's Hero gave multiple accounts of the events of that night. Thus leading one to believe that his nickname has been misspelled all these years since.
Shouldn't it read: The Lyin' of the Senate'?
Once again Ms. Kopechne was unavailable for comment, in the words of James Taranto.

40 years ago this week, Teddy Kennedy drove off the bridge at Chappaquiddick (presumably on his way to Catchaquikkie) and left Mary Jo Kopechne to drown in shallow water. He returned home, talked to advisors, then went to bed all before calling for "help" the next day. He is now considered one of the prime architects of Obamacare, which will determine how quickly we receive medical services. Uh-oh...
Medical services provided just like he did with Mary Jo. Die, fast please. Good, you’re dead. Oh, I am all for your health care.....
“The Incident that saved America from a Teddy Kennedy Presidency occurred forty years ago today”
Cannot be stated enough. The American public would not buy Teddy’s alibis and his lack of moral character, however, the death of Mary Jo Kopechne at the hands of a drunken Kennedy was not enough to oust him from office in Massachusetts.
Just what is it with that lousy state that they have so much influence politically?
as there is no statute of limitations on murder... this should be pursued.. imo
It's all irrelevant now, as we now have a radical Marxist in the Whitehouse whose policies and changes to the American economy and society at large will surpass the wildest, drooling, gin-soaked fantasies of even Ted the Swimmer.
I am not suggesting this, but simply pointing out it makes as much sense as the story we've been given for 40 years now. In the absence of any sort of quality investigation at the time of the incident and in view of the handling it got after the fact, there's absolutely no telling what happened that night or what led up to it.
