Smoking Gun: Zelaya Computers had 'certified' results for referendum that was never held
Rick Moran
This has been all over the Honduran and Central American press for more than 24 hours but, as Alberto de la Cruz of Babalu Blog points out, no English speaking wire service or media has picked up on it yet.
Authorities seized several computers used by former president Zelaya that contained "official" results of the constitutional referendum that was never held showing his bid to change the law so that he could run for office again winning easily.
De la Cruz translates the story from a Catalan Newspaper (Europa Press):
Several computers containing the results of the referendum Zelaya wanted to conduct are seized at the Presidential Palace The National Directors of Criminal Investigation seized various computers from the Presidential Palace that had recorded the supposed results of the referendum to reform the constitution that the deposed leader, Manuel Zelaya, was planning to conduct on July 28, the day he was removed from office.
The official investigation now deals with the possible crime of fraud and falsification of documents due to the fact that some of the certified voting results had been filled with the personal information of individuals that supposedly participated in the failed referendum that did not take place because of the coup.
One of the district attorneys that participated in the operation that took place this Friday showed reporters an official voting result from the Technical Institute Luis Bogran, of Tegucigalpa, in which the specific number of people that participated in table 345, where there were 550 ballots, 450 of which were votes in favor of Zelaya's proposal and 30 were against, in addition to 20 blank ballots and 30 ballots, which were nullified.
The seizure took place on the third floor of the building attached to the Ministry of the Presidency that had been rented to the ex-minister of the Interior, Enrique Flores Lanza. The deputy district attorney, Roberto Ramirez, declared this area as a "crime scene" and, although he did not want to provide further details, said that further evidence had been found that could be categorized as crimes of fraud, embezzlement of funds, falsification of documents, and abuse of authority.
The news has even been reported in Nicaragua. But for some reason, total silence reigns in the English speaking world.
It appears certain the the Honduran people narrowly avoided the prospect of a Chavez clone setting up shop as a dictator for life in their country. Only the courageous actions of their political, military, and judicial leaders avoided catastrophe.
I am ashamed of our president and government that they continue to support Zelaya at the expense of Honduran freedom. And I am ashamed of our media who obviously backed the wrong horse and are too arrogant to admit it.
Perhaps it’s all a ruse or a rumor and requires more fact checking, but it is very irregular that the US press hasn’t even mentioned it. Looks like some links in Slashdot or US Today, but not much. This is the second time in a month that the press has slept through a big story (Iran, anyone? remember that country?), but the MSM is going to have egg on its face when this reaches the headlines. Obama too. Can’t wait.
Diebold can hardly be blamed for an "election" that never happened.
What I want to know is: Was Jimmeh Cahtuh's certification of the election already recorded?
Zelaya obviously learned this technique from somebody -- Hugo Chavez comes to mind. And Jimmeh was right there to certify that Chavez' computers were right...and the freedom-supporting opponents were wrong.
i didn’t knew there were postings with the search word “Zelaya”. I had been waiting for chat on the “Honduras” search word related threads.
They learned how to do this from the Minnesota Senate race.
Jimmy Carter there...already?
If so, perhaps they can keep him.
Let’s fall on our knees!
Not just Minnesota, but every political race in the nation.
Communists/Democrats are vote-fraud maniacs, whether the methods are black-box electronics (Diebold or Smartmatic), or punch-cards, or paper ballots, or dead voters. They will swear by any Democrat win that has been "stolen fair and square".
Stealing elections is the pride of Democrat policy, and they excuse their fraudulent actions with the quip, "everybody does it." That's classic projection.
you got that right.
Free Republic is a place where we can get the English of foreign press that is not ashamed to take on Obama, or offer views which the US MSM censors. It is purely and completely CENSORSHIP in the US these days. I am convinced of it, the amount of international press I read.
It bears repeating.
Thank goodness for search features. FR is coming up among the first, too. That's why Obama has to get his mitts on the internet as well as everything else.
Next to GUNS, that is one thing they best not consider laying their hands on.
BTTT — I missed this the first time around.
Honduras is stacking up the criminal charges against Zelaya in case he sneaks back in. The US has more in common with Honduras than most folks realize.
And our media is deliberately covering this up.
