Some centrist House Democrats have reached out to Republicans to explore breaking with their party leadership on healthcare and crafting a reform bill with the rival GOP, one congressman claimed Saturday.
Rep. Charles Boustany (R-La.) asserted that an "interesting development" is taking place underway that, if true, could effectively remove Democratic leadership from the driver's seat on healthcare reform legislation in the House.

Obama political arm now targets House Dems and GOP on healthcare
@ 11:18 am by Michael O’Brien
President Obama’s political arm, Organizing for America (OFA), expanded its pro-healthcare reform ad campaign to target vulnerable House Republicans and centrist Democrats.
OFA said Saturday that it’d expanded the ad buy of their “It’s Time” ad to 15 additional markets beyond its initial state ad buys it had made to pressure centrist senators in both parties into supporting healthcare reform legislation.
The move puts the OFA message on air in the backyards of a number of Republicans who may face tough reelection battles in 2010, and on-air in the districts of Democrats who have been on the fence about supporting healthcare reform.
“Millions of Americans lose their health insurance when they lose their job, are denied care because of a pre-existing condition, and delay care or skip medication because they can’t afford it,” OFA Director Mitch Stewart said in a statement. “It’s time to reform our health care system to lower costs, preserve patient choice and ensure that all Americans have access to quality, affordable care.”
A partial list of the lawmakers whose districts will be hit by the OFA ad buy includes:
* Savannah, - Jack Kingston (R-Ga.), Joe Wilson (R-S.C.), Ander Crenshaw (R-Fla.)
* Palm Springs, Calif. - Mary Bono Mack (R-Calif.)
* Seattle - Dave Reichert (R-Wash.)
* Nashville - Jim Cooper (D-Tenn.)
* Bloomington - Baron Hill (D-Ind.)
* Sacramento - Dan Lungren (R-Calif.)
* Salt Lake City - Jim Matheson (D-Utah)
* New Orleans - Ahn “Joseph” Cao (R-La.)
* Pittsburgh - Tim Murphy (R-Pa.), Mike Doyle (D-Pa.), John Murtha (D-Pa.), Jason Altmire (D-Pa.)
* Charlotte - Larry Kissell (D-N.C.)
* Little Rock - Vic Snyder (D-Ark.)
* Columbus - Mary Jo Kilroy (D-Ohio)
* Marquette, Mich. - Bart Stupak (D-Mich.)
* Grand Rapids, Mich. - Vern Ehlers (R-Mich.), Pate Hoekstra (R-Mich.)
* Medford, Ore. - Greg Walden (R-Ore.)
I don’t want any of them dinking with the best health care in the world.
What is it with these people? No more bipartisanship compromise cr*p! We’ve seen in the past where this type of legislation goes. Just kill the socialist health care bill and be done with it. Let the free market take care of itself!
It is.
No kidding....It sounds like Obama’s own personal ACORN...

The Dems are NOT breaking from Obama!
They are trying to get Republicans to sign on to ANY aspect of government-run healthcare so they can claim bipartisan support. A majority of Americans do not want or need government healthcare and dems know it. Don’t fall for this ruse House Republicans.
I have no doubt that Obama dispatched these trojans to fracture the House Republicans cohesiveness on this issue. If they’re so conservative, why do they stay and vote most often with democrats?? Only voting conservative when reelection looms. I’m not fooled.
Ask yourself, why is the media so focused on this?? They spend endless hours propping up the puppet-in-chief and ignoring anything that makes him look ineffective. Why breathlessly report on dissension in the ranks. I’m not buying this fandance. Not one bit.
Agree. It’s a socialistic mess that can’t be “improved” or “modified.” It needs to be shredded and burned. Then proceed with something that reduces the cost/regulatory burdens on the existing healthcare system.
The GOP has some good ideas: limiting malpractice awards, not permitting gov’t takeover, etc.
I don’t know what these so-called centrist Dems want...but hopefully killing Hussein’s communist ideas and even setting them back would be very good news.
And we have some idiots in the GOP who will walk right into it.
Oooh. I like that pic. That might get stolen. :)
A lot to pick from...
Socialism in 8 years instead of 4.
Big whoop.
This is how the GOP will cave. They are going to give it to us a little slower
OFA works for Obama
So they’re going after Bono...even after she was one of the Republican votes that passed Cap&Trade. When will these RINOs ever learn?
