So much for Allmendream's open and shut phylogenetic case for chimps being closer to humans than to the other great apes! Now the high priests of the Temple of Darwin are saying that we are more closely related to orangutans. And no doubt, should the Temple of Darwin throw out the Chimp (and embrace the Orangutan) as humanity's closest living relative, the rest of the Evos will obediently follow.
Talk about belonging in religion!

Yes, previously we were arguing about how, given that chimps and humans are so 99% similar simians, we should at least have seen more chimp chessmasters in the Interzonals. Now we will have to rehash the same argument about orangutan chessmasters.
