wow, I remember her in the mid 90's when I was big into mtbing...I have since fallen away from the sport. I still love biking though I haven't had much time to do it. And too bad there are hardly any companies making awesome steel/cromo bikes.

400 pounds is not “for personal use.” Well, almost.

dangled a dried piranha around her neck and tucked her dead dog’s ashes in her bra when she raced.

ooooK

nothing like heading straight downhill thru the trees and brush. looks like her ability to avoid large obstacles finally failed her.

If she goes to jail she will have lots of girlfriends. I don’t think she will mind though.

The marijuana haul from the Missy Giove bust all 400 pounds of it. Giove was used to making big money in bike racing. At the height of her career, she had a $450,000 sponsorship contract. (Courtesy of freemissy.com)

Missy Giove was mountain biking's "first rock star." She faces drug-trafficking charges. (The Denver Post)

No sign though of the 1000 pounds of Twinkies and Doritos.

While out in the back woods mountain biking, she must have seen lots of spots and said “what a great place to grow some weed”.

“She had numerous car wrecks and slight problems with authority,” said Giove’s longtime friend and former bike racer Craig Glaspell. “The fact she might be involved in some pretty heavy drug trafficking is the crazy thing. I mean, real crazy.”

I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. POT MAKES YOU STUPID.

“Days after her arrest, her public defender, Tim Austin, alleged the drugs were planted in Giove’s possession, possibly by police.”

Poor Tim having to come up with this lame excuse, or if could be she slipped him some doobies, and he just wasn’t thinking strait.

Yeah, those pro bikers are a fearless sort, they don't seem to mind breaking a lot of bones. When I get up over 40 mph on my road bike, I get nervous. Things can go wrong when you only have skinny little 130 psi tires under you.

If I remember right, wasn't she formerly a downhill skier (another fearless bunch), but tore up her knees so badly she had to switch sports?
