People have a tendency, especially those in big government, to forget that Tennesseans don't tolerate outside interference to the same extent that others might...

Hell, we don't even tolerate inside interference that well, either... For those that wonder what that means, read up on "The Battle of Athens Tennessee."

The bill to which the article refers was House Bill 1796... It was no coincidence that it bore the same number as the year Tennessee became a state: 1796. We worked hard to get that bill passed. It is a statement, a warning you might say, to the federal government - BACK OFF! While we knew that we would get the response from BATFE that we did, the purpose was to put them on notice that we will not sit idly by and let them walk on us. And I would say the we will see this tested in the courts - that was the plan. If you aren't making waves, the boat is not going anywhere.

A long time ago, when I was a little kid, I was out with my dad visiting one of his friends. The old boy had a blood hound lying out in the back yard... Well, I didn't care much for the conversation, so I decided to go play with the dog. He was old, and he was overweight, too. He also didn't want to be bothered by some 5 year old kid. But I didn't understand that... So I picked up a stick and poked at him a bit trying to get him to play with me. Well after about the fifth poke, he was up and about ready to eat me for lunch. I still don't know how I made it through the screen door without getting at least one good bite on my backside or at least a leg. Lesson learned: You can only poke an old dog with a stick for so long before he gets up and goes after you on his own ground.

So, BATFE, you just keep own poking that old dog and see what happens...

Molôn Labé! You bunch of MikeFoxtrots!

We've about had it with your disregard for the Constitution of the United States... We've seen about enough corruption in government, all for the purpose of self-preservation of the bureaucracy. You are already up to about the fourth poke of the old dog... Are you going to keep poking? Remember though... There are plenty that are better trained than you. But perhaps your big government elitist attitude won't let you admit that. So just keep on poking, and get ready for an education.

The Battle of Athens is a classic. I grew up in Blount County, just a tad north.

Good ref Raven to ‘The Battle of Athens Tennessee’! Tennessean’s will not be a doormat to corrupt, overbearing Guberment...especially the ‘Overmountain men & women of East Tennessee, the true home of the Volunteers.

GOOD rant, and as a fellow Tennessean I agree completely.

I DO take issue with the broad brush by which you refer to Foxtrots..

Just sayin.
