Excellent analysis / history. What's amazing to me is that many of those friends, even though we abandoned them, still wanted to come here (at the risk of death), some made it, and with little but hope and hard work, most of the survivors did ok or better.

Yes they did...and they did because they knew, despite our pols and MSM, that the US was a land of opportunity.
