Well, whatever you said, I’m sure untold numbers of Vietnamese boat people at the bottom of the South China Sea, or those in shallow graves in Cambodia, would have agreed with you. IMO he showed his true (Red) colors when we had the occasion to battle a Soviet-style socialist enemy, rather than German national socialism.
I wonder if he was always gung-ho to go after the Germans, or if, like most of the American reds in that era, thought the Nazis were fine when they were aligned with Stalin, only turning against them after the Germans invaded mother Russia.
