That’s true...but...it was only a matter of time before Dornan would have been defeated in any event. The demographics of that district changed to overwhelming Hispanic and Democrat (Santa Ana, CA). Here in southern CA., a large number of formerly Republican congressional districts are now in Democrat hands due largely to demographic changes. I live near the Pasadena and Glendale area. Back in the day this was rock solid Goldwater-Reagan territory. Now it is overwhelmingly liberal Democrat.
As far as the districts are today...the districts were gerrymandered after Sanchez was elected and most of my area in Fountain Valley went to Dana Rohrabacher’s 46th district.
“Now it is overwhelmingly liberal Democrat.”
There are pockets of “D” but O.C. is still an “R” county, thank you. In fact if you check the Sec. of State's website you will find that the GOP has GAINED the majority in SEVENTEEN counties in the last 16 years. The GOP had gained the majority in 37 counties in 2005 but lost 6 in the last 5 years but has consistently gained ground on the 'Rats in the last 16 years. http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections/ror/ror-pages/15day-stwdsp-09/hist-reg-stats.pdf
And before I leave you, as we all know, elections in CA are won by the registered Independents! Of which, I am a proud member. BIG SMILE
