WASHINGTON Americans are divided over how they want health care fixed and whom they trust most to do it, refusing to forge a consensus for or against President Barack Obama as he and Congress march toward a historic overhaul.
A new McClatchy-Ipsos poll released Wednesday found people torn over several key questions that are likely to dominate debate in Congress in coming weeks, including:
How a federal government insurance plan would affect their own health care and their pocketbooks.
Whether the government should stress cost controls or expanded insurance coverage.
Whom they trust most to expand coverage.

GOVERNMENT RUN HEALTH CARE HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY IN ANY COUNTRY WHERE IT HAS BEEN INSTITUTED.
Our own government run programs are already a joke and inefficent. GOVERNMENT HEALTH CARE IN THE US WILL BE LIKE PUTTING FLAT TIRES ON A CAR. IT WILL NOT RUN WELL, IT WILL ALWAYS BE A PROBLEM, AND WILL CAUSE MORE PROBLEMS.
(Sorry for the bold...but yes, I am screaming. Not at the people on FR but out of frustration!)
Had lunch with my parents. Father is 77. Mother is 72. They said if National Health Care,Cap and Trade passes and Obamanus keeps on doing all these crazy things, they’re moving overseas.
They already checked. If they moved back to the “Old Country”, as a retired senior military officer, he entitled to subsidized housing, free medical care and a pension. Plus if they sell some real estate here, they’ll live very well ie. maid, driver and cook.
Father made a joke. Maybe they should move to China. At least the government there makes no pretense at being totalitarian and they do have unbridled capitalism.
Told them, if it get bad enough. We’re moving in with them.
Clearly, the people polled haven’t heard about the hope and the change.
Time for Rahm Emanuel to fabricate another Dick Cheney hit piece. Or perhaps another attack on Sarah Palin.
Support tax breaks to small businesses to help provide insurance, by 91-8 percent.
Don't these people realize that this "health reform" is going to have the complete opposite effect by astronomically raising taxes on small businesses?
I swear, with such uninformed masses Mr. Mom Jeans is leading this head-in-the-sand country right over the cliff.
The real solution is to have everyone have to put in something: a flat rate tax. Deductions, maybe something...but if EVERYONE had to pay 12% or 15% of their income, then everyone would care about how the government spends money.
I don't care if you earn $10 a hour as a manual laborer or $1000 an hour as a corporate attorney.
Sure. None of the (ha ha) legislators are reading any of this crap.
If they pass it fast enough nobody else will be able to read it.
This is on page 16 of a thousand page bill. Who knows what evil lurks in the rest of the pages?
Besides, they can just plug in another 300 - 1000 pages at 2 AM on the day of the vote, like Waxy Waxman did to the Crap and Tax bill.
