I think you may be wrong. (I could be wrong, but don't think so at this point) At A quick glance, his story seems to check out.
He seems to have an independent mind-set. IMHO, FR became so successful in the early days because of plenty of independent thought.

Info for Duly certified Old Fogey. Was brought up in an era when Republicans exerted the kind of control Democrats now exert ; originally favored Democrats as a result. By the 60's, I had become disillusioned with both parties.Am a bit more mellow now , but still politically unaligned : feel there are far too many " New Federalists" in both parties; ie: people who want an excessively strong central government that is run by an elite.
I have already seen that. We went through this the other day.
