Right now there is a thread devoted to MJ, and several others which are decidedly not political news. What are the criteria for not having them pulled?

Right now there is a thread devoted to MJ, and several others which are decidedly not political news. What are the criteria for not having them pulled? FWIW, MJ's death was a significant news event (personally, I was sick of it all within two days).
But at some point, some stories are just plain overly trivial and pure gossip. The story in question crossed that line.
