Thanks. No matter how young you are there is always somebody even younger who doesn’t get the reference and makes you feel like you are old.
Happens to me all the time now. I’m only 41 but I have to explain crap to Gen Y kids whose birthdates are ridiculous, 1987, 1990.
They were the kids and college students who voted for Barack Fitzgerald Obama. Dumbasses are now waiting two deep in the unemployment line.
I made up my mind that I would make whatever references I felt like, because it was fun. I also suspected that there would be *someone* who’d get it. I know what you mean, though.
To make you feel better, I’ve heard that there are lots of 20 y.o.s who love the Beatles, and the music of the 60s-70s, because their parents would play it. A second generation grew up with it. Young guitarists love the more intricate songs, and acknowledge that there’s nothing like it today.
And our own Jim Thompson was undercover with Betty and Bill, and went by the name “Allen Ludden.” Remember? :-)
