Sotomayor on Sotomayor: Revises, extends her words

WASHINGTON – It's a good thing Sonia Sotomayor speaks Sotomayoran.

After week upon week in which plenty of other people on the planet interpreted Sotomayor's past comments, the Supreme Court nominee at last got a chance to deconstruct her own words Tuesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee.

Fingers splayed, palms flat, hands bouncing up and then deliberately pressing down to the table, Sotomayor elaborated, clarified, expanded, retracted.

She drew loopy circles on her paper; she ran rhetorical circles around her past words.

"I didn't intend to suggest ..." she explained.

"What I was speaking about ..." she offered.

"As I have tried to explain ..." she parsed.

"I wasn't talking about ..." she demurred.

She was a tough critic at times.

"I was using a rhetorical flourish that fell flat," she averred.

"It was bad," she said. Of her own words.

This is the statement she made that she now says she did not mean...

“I would hope that a wise Latina woman with the richness of her experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion than a white male who hasn't lived that life.”

I imagine there are probably some white supremacists that might say that a wise white male with the richness of his experiences would, more often than not, reach a better conclusion than a Latina woman who hasn't lived that life. But of course that would be racist.

Taken to it's unreasonable extreme, Soto will be able to justify sending white males to death camps based on past injustices.

That is what I get from

A) reading her past decisions, and

B) hearing the racist hatred in the subtext of her speech.

Frankly, I welcome our new wise, racist, lesbian overlords.

Yeah she will take many punches but she will be confirmed.

Which will confirm her in her hatred of and resolve against the Constitution, it's writers and beneficiaries. So be it! Skin her alive and leave her and the liberals philosophically nude for history to judge.

Lets face it, the whole nomination hearing is meaningless. When push comes to shove she will come up with an explanation and may even repudiate her own words. She will say anything to get on the court at which point she will act according to her beliefs.

Sotomayor, nearly sure to become the first Hispanic US Supreme Court justice, distanced herself Tuesday from her past remark that a Latina woman's heritage might make her a better judge. (AFP/Nicholas Kamm)

Well, the dingbats may be sure, but I sure am not!

How do you "unring" a bell?

Here as in few other places, Bullshit* talks and actions walk.

What has she actually done? A confirmation epiphany might impress the Dem criminals in Congress, but I wouldn't trust her with my cat.

From *BULLSHIT

"...Bullshit, by contrast, is fundamentally unconcerned with truth or falsehood, but only with appearance, effect and persuasion, however transitory. Yuri Luzhkov was not accusing the Moscow weather forecasters of lying, or yet of trying to predict the weather and honestly failing; he was accusing them of not caring about the true weather."

Bright red outfit...bad choice for a hearing like this. It makes her look like she’s blushing with embarrassment at her own words.

Just now watching clips on Bret Baier’s show on FNC.

As she was trying to claim that she didn’t mean what she said in her wise Latina line, her eye blinking rate multiplied by 10 or more. She was lying, flat out lying.

Can I get a confirmation from a body language expert?

Her actions over the past two decades speaks volumes on her ideology. She is a racist activist judge who lied today in front of congress. For the Republicans not to demand that she steps down as the nominee is criminal.

Her excuse for the excerpt from her speach about a ‘Latina judge making a better decision than a white man’ was bogus. She stated that she was only trying to inspire Latinas. How does making a racist comment inspire Latina students?
