The poodle we used to have could recognize a lot of words. We had to spell “ride to the lake” or “go for a golf cart ride”, etc. We never said anything about going to the vet, but she would start shaking like a leaf if we passed a certain intersection.

I’m with ya there. We have to spell w-a-l-k, r-i-d-e and b-e-a-c-h or the dogs go nuts.

Tried that; then dog learned to spell.
Are you ready to “go”? became
Are you ready to “G-O”?
which then became
Are you ready to “oh-gay”?
dog apparently could not figure out pig latin.

My 11 month old parti-poodle learned a new word today. I told him to go “right” and sure enough he did. I am amazed at how smart he really is. (A parti-poodle is a multi-colored poodle. Mine is tri-color: red, black and white.)
