It would seem to go against her purposes to get her family out of the daily spotlight and let her focus on other things such as promoting her ideas of conservatism and limit gov’t.

Where did she say that? I don't read that in her resignation speech. She quit so she would have more freedom to fight, she never mentioned taking her family out of the spotlight. Everything I read into what she is saying, she is working to progress conservative causes which will make the perfect platform to run for President in 2012.

Not sure I can point you to a specific location but articles indicate she was concerned about the attacks, spotlight that was focused on her family specifically the children. Thus it would be a good way to get them out of the spotlight as such but yet keep a national presence for herselft to promote her agenda of limited gov’t/conservatism as she sees it. Nothing wrong with that if that is really part of her concerns.

Here’s one article with hints that the family was a concern of hers;

This spring, as Palin was weighing whether to run for reelection in 2010, she turned to John P. Coale, a prominent Washington lawyer. He had helped her establish a political action committee and has become her political consigliere of sorts.

“She asked me, ‘Well, what do you think all this is? Why are all these people attacking me?’ “ Coale said. “I said to her: ‘Look, that’s what happens. They did it to Hillary [Rodham Clinton], and Hillary just pushed through it. It’s not going to really stop. . . . You just have to ignore it and move on.’ “

But, Coale added, “she couldn’t ignore the hits on the kids. She said, ‘It brought out the mama grizzly in me.’ She acted like a mother grizzly bear when her cubs were being attacked.”
