Not only that, but its arguing on their terms, so it only perpetuates a story they wish to cover because it plays into a narrative they're constantly working to construct - namely that conservatives are racists and should be demonized/marginalized. It would be better for conservatives to do what liberals do when they're faced with a controversy - refuse to talk about it, give the press nothing to report, and wait for it to die.
