I don’t think we should jump to conclusions on this. As much as I mistrust Obama, I don’t think he has much choice but to at least gather information on this. I’ll save my criticism for any improper decisions resulting from such “information gathering”.

Why? It was ignored because: (1) Many UN and human rights agencies, and the news media are prone to grossly exaggerate “mass killings.” (2) In the context of Third World, tribal culture such acts can be legitimate.
This was eight years ago. Why not go back 15 years to Rwanda. According to Rwandan government statistics 1,174,000 people were slaughtered in 100 days (10,000 murdered every day, 400 every hour, 7 every minute). Not only did President Clinton and the news media ignore this bloodbath, Clinton hamstrung the UN from intervening militarily.

This happened in 2001, was known in 2001 and is only now being reported? If there was any there there, this would have been reported years ago.
