Since announcing her resignation, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has been pummeled by critics who have called her incoherent, a quitter, a joke and a "political train wreck."
And those were fellow Republicans talking.
Palin has been a polarizing figure from the moment she stepped off the tundra into the bright lights last summer as John McCain's surprise vice presidential running mate. Some of that hostility could be expected, given the hyper-partisanship of today's politics.
What is remarkable is the contempt Palin has engendered within her own party and the fact that so many of her GOP detractors are willing, even eager, to express it publicly -- even with Palin an early front-runner for the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.

I’m not a Palin supporter, but the GOP is playing with fire here.
If they run Sarah out, and she begins a new party, she will siphon off enough votes that the GOP will never regain power for years.
Not by Sarah Palin has it been laid to rest, not by her.
Er, no, they decided to take a pass. It was in all the papers last November.
Among the moderate GOP and RINO’s this is simply about political self-preservation and personal survival.
Sarah is just too damn popular and too damn conservative and above all she cannot be bought off.
Posted this on another thread, but it bears repeating.
When looking at Sarah Palin, the term rugged individual does not immediately come to mind. But the facts tell a different story. She and her family are just that, rugged individuals with highly developed faith-based brains and backbones. She is wise enough to know that the days of disastrous, archaic, behind-the-scenes political game-playing are coming to an end. And, she was not afraid to cut the cord and enter the full light of the arena as an unfettered rugged individual; ready to take on the big boys on their own turf no stealth, no vagaries, no lies. With a new paradigm, it doesnt matter if shes President or messenger. Its unlikely she cares: unless a specific role will further the urgent and righteous struggle to preserve the Constitution and US Sovereignty.
The idea at the core of sociologist Charles Cooleys theory that people see themselves through the mirror-like perceptions of others is:
"Each to each a looking-glass
Reflects the other that doth pass."
The weak, fearful, morally bankrupt lot that mock and malign Sarah Palin apparently dont much care for their reflections when they look at the brave, bodacious, beautiful spirit in the Palin mirror.
When the street savvy ex-mayor of San Francisco declared her stepping down as Governor brilliant, his observation was correct.
We the people are ready to join the fray. All she has to do is signal when ready.
These guys need some guidance. And when I say “guidance” I mean they need to be told in no uncertain terms that they’re supposed to be grown men and women and serious political workers and writers, not the freaking Heathers.
LOL!
Good point. ;o)
