“Cracker”.

That reminds me of a recent column I wrote and posted here about the “crackers” who cracked into a government database. I specifically used the accurate term “cracker” because I was once corrected by an IT specialist who told me that the commonly used term “hacker” was commonly used incorrectly (”crackers” do bad things, “hackers” find security holes for the good guys).

Despite the many times I tried to explain the correct usage of the term, the original topic was quickly lost and I instantly became the racist.

The main reason I don’t use it as a nickname is that folks might think of the computer criminals.

Have you considered writing about the Black Crackers? The title alone could guarantee a heavy response.
