I honestly think they've hired long-term trolls who registered years ago. We've got sleeper cells here.

Nearing every election cycle numerous “dormant” accounts here get hacked by trolls. Used to be, though, that they’d hit and run with some outrageous post and that’d be it. I think it’s getting more organized now and they are getting a little bit more subtle. A lot of users here have terribly weak passwords and it’s not hard to use a script to guess.
